Bohème
Bohème was a recommendation from my uncle. He’s a textbook for Napa and Sonoma wine families so it’s no surprise that their winemaker, Kurt Beitler, is the nephew of Caymus’s Chuck Wagner.
The Bohème tasting room—or cellar door as they call it in the Aussie fashion—is located in the small town of Occidental. They have four main vineyards all within 10 miles of the coast, producing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a bit of Syrah. We enjoyed basically everything we tasted including the rosé. The Chardonnays are made in the Burgudian-style with neutral french oak. We tasted several Pinots; our favorite was the Stuller though we also picked up a couple bottles of the English Hill.
BEWARE: Check the schedule for the Occidental Farmer’s Market as it takes up quite a bit of the parking.
